2022 competition

Preselection

Candidates must send the following to the official website of the Foundation prior to June 30, 2022:

  • a CV
  • a color photo
  • a link of a video hosted on YouTube
  • registration fees: USD 80 or 70€ by bank transfer or cheque

Applicants must have been born between 1989 and 2006 (16 – 33 years old)

Pre-selection by video only before June 30, 2022:

  1. Chopin Sonata in B-flat minor n°2 (1st et 4th movements without repeats )
  2. Debussy Toccata or Ravel Toccata
  3. Poulenc Presto in B-flat major
  4. A work of your choice: Couperin, The Tic-Toc-Choc or Rameau, The reminder of the birds

30 candidates from the pre-selection will qualify to take part in the eliminatory round.


Eliminatory round

Monday 7, Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 November 2022 - Salle Cortot

  • Same program as the video pre-selection
  • In addition, a work of the candidate's choice, approximately 10 minutes long

Among these 30 candidates, 10 will qualify for the semi-finals


Semi-finals

Thursday November 10, maximum duration 40 minutes – Salle Cortot

  • Free program
  • Set piece: Chopin 16th Prelude

Among the 10 semi-finalists, 6 will qualify for the Finals with Orchestra


Rehearsals with orchestra

Saturday November, 12 – Théâtre du Châtelet

  • 10:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. general rehearsal of 3 concertos
  • 15:00 to 18:00 p.m. general rehearsal of 3 concertos

Finals with orchestra

Sunday November, 13 – Théâtre du Châtelet

  • 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 3 finalists
  • 15:30 p.m. to 18:30 p.m. 3 finalists

Each finalist will perform a concerto with orchestra to choose from a selection of 13 Piano Concertos:

  • Chopin, Piano Concerto n°1 in E minor Op.11
  • Schumann, Piano Concerto in A minor Op.54
  • Prokofiev, Piano Concerto n°2 in G minor, Op.16
  • Brahms, Piano Concerto n°2 in B-flat minor Op.83
  • Mozart, Piano Concerto in D minor K466
  • Beethoven, Piano Concerto n°4 in G major Op.58
  • Rachmaninov, Piano Concerto n°3 in D minor Op. 30
  • Tchaïkovski, Piano Concerto n°1 in B-flat minor Op. 23
  • Ravel, Piano Concerto in G
  • Saint-Saëns, Piano Concerto n°5 in F major Op.103
  • Liszt, Piano Concerto n°2 in A major
  • Massenet, Piano Concerto
  • Fauré, Ballade for Piano and Orchestra Op.19
